Tap Tuesdays Are Tarot Tuesdays: Why I’m Closing My Doors One Night a Week

I don’t think I’ve ever been so excited about an announcement that requires me (seemingly) to be doing LESS business, rather than more. But yes, it’s true… as of next week, me and my quirky tarot cards will be off the clock on Tuesdays for the foreseeable future. I will not be accepting client bookings on Tuesdays!

My tap shoes and mat... making the investment.

My tap shoes and mat… making the investment.

I must <3 it if I’m wearing the shirt, right?

When I get into the “why” of it, you’re totally going to laugh (in fact, I hear preemptive chuckling in the distance right now as I type). Tuesday nights are earmarked for…. get this…. my tap dancing class. (*listens to the roar of laughter crescendo*) In July, I will then be adding ballroom lessons to my repertoire. (*watches as some people roll on the floor gasping for air*)

I have never been a coordinated person, ESPECIALLY when it comes to dance. When I was in high school musicals, 3/4 of the female cast were already enrolled in private dance lessons such as tap, jazz, and ballet outside of school, so any musical numbers would be cake for them to memorize the choreography and perform them flawlessly (while singing, too!). I had to practice three times as much to look at least passable next to those kids. It became commonplace in the audition process for me to say, “I’m NOT a triple threat, okay? Acting, fair; Singing, better than fair; Dancing, listen, I might hurt someone if I try.”

So, when I was asked to join an adult tap class, I was enthusiastic, but cautiously so. It had been years since I attempted any sort of choreography outside of chair dancing while listening to the radio in my car or at my desk. I never thought that I would come to love learning new tap moves every week! Who knew that the real secret to mastery really is what they say about how you get to Carnegie Hall… practice, practice, practice!

Since 2014 is a Wheel of Fortune year for me, I am embracing learning new things, like tap dance, and instead of making New Years Resolutions this year in January, I resolved instead to try new experiences instead. I’ve found this to be a much better use of my time rather than being frustrated by the normal resolutions of “lose weight, get healthy, read more, bla bla” that seem to get scrapped by February, if not sooner.

But let me get back to the title of this post: How can my “Tap Tuesdays” be considered “Tarot Tuesdays” if I’m not seeing clients on that day? Maybe I’m not throwing the cards for clients on Tuesdays, but I am ALWAYS about tarot 24/7. Expect to see new blog content every Tuesday/Wednesday!

Blessings,
~*~Hilary~*~
