Preparing for Readers Studio

It’s entirely possible that this is how many bags I’ll have by the end of the weekend.

It’s been a wild and wacky year of tarot, business, networking, and self-reflection. This weekend the Wheel (of Fortune) comes full circle, and I will be attending Readers Studio for the second time. I will not be on pins and needles this weekend, waiting for the results of the Tarot Apprentice contest. I will not be the shy new wallflower, hanging back and not making a peep, afraid to voice my opinions because I am a young(er) tarot reader. I will be full-throttle Hilary.

I will also be doing quite a bit of shopping this weekend. Readers Studio is the candy store of a tarotist’s world, with vendors encircling the main conference area. Here’s my shopping list (which I’m sure I will add to while I’m there):

  • Steampunk Tarot
  • The Tarot Game (travel-sized AND full-sized, perhaps!)
  • Osho Zen Tarot (if available)
  • The Gilded Tarot Anniversary Edition
There will also be plenty of tarot accessories I will need, such as reading cloths and bags. I’m rather finicky with my tarot decks, and not happy unless my decks eventually find their way into a cloth bag to keep them safe.
In addition, I will be learning A LOT this weekend, with three master classes, two evening classes, the foundation reading (the cornerstone of Readers Studio), and the re-visitation of the foundation reading at the end of the weekend. I will also be having a drink with Theresa Reed to celebrate the official ending of our year-long mentor/apprentice relationship, and networking with other tarot readers and “celebrity” readers. But in the end, it’s all about hanging out with a tarot tribe numbering roughly 200 people strong (and that’s JUST at one conference!).
Remember, everyone: Whatever your niche is, there’s pretty much a guarantee that there is a conference right up your alley, and people that are salivating to talk with other people about the very same passion you have. Seek it out. Join your tribe. Follow your passion, and don’t be afraid to share it with others!

Looking forward to hanging with my tarot tribe,
~*~Hilary~*~

Ok, this has me practically salivating for three reasons…

    1) I am dying to know how this experience goes for you and to hear all about it when you get back!! I don’t do anything with the tarot professionally but I love to work with it for myself and this sounds so cool!

    2) The Osho Zen deck… yeah, my most favorite deck EVER. Gorgeous, meaningful, perfect. Hope you get your hands on it!

    3) I never (duh!) considered trying to find a conference about the stuff I’m into (meaningful connection with self, Self, others, mama earth). Holy crap! Now I’ve got to add that to my to-do list because that would ROCK!

    thanks for this!

Angel: Osho Zen is actually for one of my regular clients… I’m hoping it’s available, if not I will have to order it online. But I agree, it’s an absolutely stunning deck, with very clear messages.

Bri: I will be doing a Summation of RS12 blog post when I return, with pictures!

    Jackie: Thank you!

Courtney: If he asks me for one, smartass. 🙂

Leah: Theresa sure does rock! This website wouldn’t be here if not for her mentoring!

I love conferences and this one sounds like so much fun! What state is it hosted in? I have recently been led to learn Tarot Cards, I currently am a Psychic Medium and have only worked with Angel Cards. The Tarot energy scared me a bit, but now suddenly it’s calling to me. I am beginning to shop for a deck of cards…could you make a recommendation for me?

    • Hilary says:

It’s hosted in New York at the LaGuardia Marriott. But there are other great tarot conferences in other states, such as San Francisco’s Bay Area Tarot Symposium (BATS). Blog posts to come!
