Tarot Beginners

I’m Hilary Parry Haggerty, and I’m a tarot reader. I believe in interactivity, tough love, and a no-nonsense approach. I do tell it like it is. I am simply the girl next door... that reads tarot.

You wouldn’t make a major decision in your life without consulting a few of your trusted friends for advice, would you? Probably not. Sometimes you need someone with more objectivity. I offer that objectivity, and then some, with my tarot readings.

I am based out of Westchester County, New York. If you would like an in-person reading with me, you need to be in the Westchester area, too. For in-person readings, I do not have a home office (yes, I make housecalls!) and readings are by appointment only. If you are not in the area, readings are also available through phone, Skype, and e-mail. Isn't technology wonderful?

Want to know more about me? See my About Me page.

Want a reading? Visit my Purchase a Reading page.

I read tarot like I write. And where I write about tarot is at my tarot blog.

Any lingering questions? The best way to reach me is via e-mail.

Struggling with learning tarot? You’re not alone. The quickest way I have found to getting a basic grasp of card meanings and how they apply to our lives (and the lives of clients) is through a card of the day practice. This challenge is set to start on Monday, April 3rd… a wonderful way to lead into my birthday! The best gift that I can get is knowing that more people are learning tarot than ever before… and that I can help them learn it!

Productivity tools from a part-time tarot reader

Yes, I have a full-time job (as a senior copy editor), and a part-time job reading tarot on weeknights and weekends.

Sometimes, people ask me how do I do it all? Sometimes the answer is, I don’t! Sometimes the answer is I make time for what is important to me. And other times, I think about the myriad of tools I use to get it all accomplished: whether it’s blogging, witching, editing, writing, teaching, creating new classes, and providing tarot readings one-on-one through client appointments and parties.

Here’s a list of all of the tools I use to “get it all done”. Note: I sure as shit don’t have it all figured out… but who does? These are the things that make me feel like, okay, I may not have it all figured out, but I feel reasonably and relatively grounded in doing these things… and keeping these habits up.

Please also note that some of the following tools are for free, while others are pay-to-play. These are things I REALLY use and really pay for. Why? Because for me, they work. Your mileage may vary. I’ll note which ones are free, and which ones I pay for.

MyHours – suggested by Melissa Cassera in one of her wonderful newsletters/blog posts that begs the question “Are you really that busy?”

“Are you *really* that busy? Or does it just *feel* like you’re really, really busy? Do you actually know where your time is going each day?”

And if you think you don’t have time? Well, prove it by tracking your time using this site for a few days, and see where your time REALLY goes… And when you find it out? Start to make time for the things that really matter to you.Continue Reading

Does this tarot reader still “got it”?

The hostess took me by the hand and dragged me into the living room full of nicely dressed strangers.

“Can I have everyone’s attention? I’d like to introduce somebody. This is Hilary, and she’s here to do something special.” She looked at me expectantly, and I realized that was when it was time to give my normal spiel. Apparently, having a tarot reader there to do readings was a surprise to the guests!
