Why I Started Blogging

TODAY’s challenge (DAY 1): Write a post on why you started your blog, who you wanted to reach, what you wanted it to be all about. Then state why you joined this blog challenge and what you want to get out of it.

When I first started blogging about tarot, I think I wanted to educate people about what tarot was about, reach prospective clients and/or students, and I wanted it to be about tarot and how tarot can be related to anything and everything in life: because the tarot cards do represent symbolically the story of our lives, made up of 78 cards.

I am joining this challenge because I want to up my blogging to the next level, whatever the next level of blogging looks like for me. I want to be more consistent in my blogging, and I think that this challenge is just the right push in that direction.

In reality (and to be completely truthful) I started this blog because I thought you have to write a blog as part of a business model. In modern business, everyone that’s anyone has a blog… whether that’s right or wrong, I’m not sure. I know that a blog is a wonderful way for customers and clients to get to know you 24/7. Even if you are asleep and your customer is awake surfing the Internet, your personality shows through if you’ve got a killer blog… and sometimes lack of personality can show through, too!

Perhaps doing this challenge on my business blog will make my tarot clients run away in fear. Perhaps it will do the opposite and allow them a real “pulling back the curtain” on what it looks like from the inside of a one-person metaphysical biz. It may even spur them to start their own blogs, if they haven’t already.

I know one thing for sure: when I started my tarot blog, I wanted to teach… and though I hope that still is true, I do know that I’ve learned an awful lot already just from putting down my thoughts on tarot into words, and allowing discussion about tarot through the medium of blogging and comments.

Bottom line: my goal in doing this challenge is to evolve and for my blog to evolve along with it. Will I continue to write about tarot here? Of course. Will I start to write about more things than tarot? Probably!

Blessings,
