On select Fridays, I’ll be posting a few links that are currently rocking my world.

This morning I was listening to a local radio station as I made my drive to my day job. Today is Friday the 13th (what I’ve always considered to be a lucky day, personally), but it is also the eve of Valentine’s Day. Love is in the air, people, whether we like it or not!

As I listened to the radio, they had on one woman that was seeking closure of the romantic variety. She went out on a “magical date” a month before, and despite assurances that the man she dated “wasn’t a game-player” and also felt the same way about the date, never heard from him again. The radio station called up the guy, only to make a love reconnection because the poor guy lost his phone on the subway right after the date, thereby losing her contact information! He was able to replace his phone, but lost her number in the process and didn’t have any of her other information! The sincerity in his voice when he asked, “Is she on the line right now? OMG, I’m so sorry! I’m so happy to hear from you; I thought I would never talk to you again!” could not be duplicated or acted.

I nearly drove off of the road squeeing with happiness for the unexpected and happy ending of a Valentine’s Date for the two reconnected lovebirds… but prior to that, when the DJs made the phone call, I cringed and changed the station, anticipating an ugly scene. I was glad I flipped back to the channel to hear the rest of the story (totally a message that I shouldn’t assume something is cringe-worthy and hear a story out before jumping to conclusions!).

Here’s the full story in audio form here:

Some more links for today:

Let Love Go: For those of us that are not all sunshine and roses this weekend in honor of Valentine’s Day, a wonderful post for you about acknowledging those “not-so-nice” feelings in order to get through them: http://heartstories.com/let-love-go/  Especially potent was the following:  “You don’t have to pretend. Acknowledge to yourself that you feel sad and love anyway. It’s even better if you can tell a close friend. Let her know that it’s tough for you this weekend. Sharing your true feelings with another is a beautiful form of love. It gives them a chance to love you well.”

Consulting the tarot when it comes to love this weekend? Don’t be fooled if the Lovers card comes up in your romance reading; look for the 2 of Cups instead! Some advice I give from this time last year: http://tarotbyhilary.com/2-of-cups-the-lovers-card/

A card you DON’T want to see when looking for love (or asking about the one that got away…): The 8 of Cups. See here for why: http://tarotbyhilary.com/looking-for-love-in-all-the-wrong-places/

In honor of that special day tomorrow and the hunt for the perfect shade of red lipstick… I’ve been watching Marvel’s Agent Carter and obsessing about the gorgeous makeup, clothing, and hair of the 1940s. Fortunately, the show’s star, Hayley Atwell, shared on social media the exact brands and colors that complete the Agent Carter look (I’m especially tempted to try the lipstick and perfume!): http://www.geekwithcurves.com/2014/12/agent-peggy-carter-makeup-starter-pack.html

More love stuff… lovestruck, that is. I blame Erika Lyremark entirely for my obsession with Tieks. My first pair was the Echo Park polka-dot ones. I convinced myself to buy my second pair by justifying that they will be my pair of flats during my wedding day. Doesn’t hurt that they are rose-gold and are named “Lovestruck”, either! http://tieks.com/lovestruck.html [And take a lesson from them about customer care… their level of care is sublime. Personalized notecards thanking you for your purchase, cards during the holidays, free calendars, and constant updates the entire way: above-par. Lifelong raving fan over here.]

The kind of flowers that don’t die. I love my Skullcandy Floral Headphones, and they come with a storage wristlet that can easily double as a purse if the need arises: http://www.skullcandy.com/headphones/KNOCKOUT
