What LUSH Taught Me About Brand Dynamics and Tarot

What did my favorite skincare company teach me about my tarot biz? Read on to find out.

Once again, a “wisdom from the shower” post.

After my whole stint becoming a B-Schooler, I’ve been paying a lot of attention to brands, what I like about my favorite ones, and what I can do to incorporate everything I love about them into my own business. One such company (and this is why it’s a “bathroom wisdom” post) is LUSH.

I love everything that Lush is about. The #1 thing I’ve seen in every retail shop of theirs is their staff truly believe in what they sell. This is a potent potion to creating major bucks in sales. You have to love what you sell.

I digress. Whenever you walk into a Lush store, a salesperson will usually come over to you and ask if you’ve ever been in a Lush store before. If not, whoooo boy, watch your wallet, because that salesperson will grill you on your skin and hair type and provide you with a basket full of goodies destined to make you look, smell, and feel fabulous.

So, if you answer that yes, you have been in a Lush store before, they will usually call you a Lushie. That’s what they call people that are so dedicated to that brand and familiar with the products and the quality of the products they sell.

Forgive me, but man, I want that. What would I call the throng of my adoring loyal clients? Hilarites? Hilshies? Hillites?

Calling all Hilarites! Or want to be Hilarites… here’s a list of things you need to know if YOU want to be a Hilarite:

  • Hilarites know that negative situations are either changeable or likely able to be mitigated. So, you should never fear a tarot reading nor the tarot reader. The cards (and the reader) are just trying to help. Even if big baddie cards come out.
  • There’s no such thing as a tarot emergency. A true Hilarite knows that a tarot reading forged in panic mode will do them no good. Are you going to listen and absorb the wisdom inherent in a tarot reading when the adrenaline is pumping through you and you’re in panic mode? Yeah, didn’t think so.
  • Hilarites read the card their damn selves if the situation warrants it. They know that they can tap into the wisdom of the tarot for themselves, and the middleman of a tarot reader is sometimes unnecessary.
  • After a Hilarite has a reading, they should feel empowered. Heck, they should feel like a gosh-darn rock star with electricity shooting out of their fingers and toes. A good reading should move you, make you change your thinking, and change your patterns (even if life is going swimmingly). A good life can always become a great life. A great life becomes a fantastic life. Sometimes, more is more, and things can be “much-y-er” (to paraphrase Johnny Depp’s Mad Hatter from Alice in Wonderland).
What’s the bottom line here? As I said before, Lush employees truly believe in what they sell. How does this translate to me and tarot? I believe that tarot is a powerful tool that can empower anyone’s life. ANYONE. It WORKS.
