I’ve blogged about it before. And I’ll blog about it again, even if it’s a subject that I’m not well versed in. However, I’ve had enough personal experiences of Mercury Retrograde Fail™ (henceforth to be known as MRF) to speak about it (and I’m sure you’ll come to discover that you’ve had experiences with MRF, too).
And I know enough about Mercury Retrograde to know to post about it before the first period of it swoops down on us to wreak havoc and mayhem.
According to the classic The Old Farmer’s Almanac, the dates for Mercury in retrograde for 2014 are:
- February 6–28
- June 7–July 2
- October 4–25
As Mercury Retrograde happens 3–4 times every year, we might as well use those energies to our advantage rather than our detriment. With the February retrograde looming ahead of us this week, here’s the stuff to keep in mind about MRF:
Prior to Mercury Retrograde
- Back up your computer to an external hard drive. (because Mercury rules technology)
- Take your car to the mechanic to have a look-over. (because Mercury rules travel)
- Triple-check travel plans (and book any flights beforehand). (because Mercury rules travel)
- Clear out your inbox (snailmail, email, or otherwise). If needing to sign something or make an appointment payment, do so now. Don’t wait. (because Mercury rules communication)
Avoid
- Avoid signing anything important, especially if it’s a binding contract. More likely than not, you’ll be having to rethink that contract for longer than the duration of 3 weeks.
- Avoid any new projects or new romance.
Do (or Redo)
- Anything with “re-” prefix: review, revisit, redo, revise… and any other “re’s” you can think of.
- Clean! (Yes, really) This will allow you to do one of the “re’s” listed above: review.
- Allow yourself additional time to do anything, especially when traveling. You will need to pad your time and expect the unexpected in order to arrive anywhere on time.
- Reconnect. Mercury can bring past situations to light. Old boyfriend or girlfriend knocking on your door during the time of a Mercury retrograde? Don’t be surprised. It’s time to put past issues to rest.
Blessings,
