Today kicks off the first day of the 10 Day Blog Challenge from Natalie Sisson, all about Focus, and the challenges we have to getting to a life full of freedom and joy. This challenge is for the next 10 days, so forgive me if it’s about to get really bloggy up in here!
So I watched the video and read the blog post, then saw this picture of a mug from Rock and Roll Bride: “you have the same hours in a day as Beyoncé”. Yup, that’s true. And it definitely dovetails nicely into one of my perceived challenges: not having enough time to do everything I want to do. Which, is an excuse, when you come right down to it.
I’ve often said that you make the time for what’s important to you, and I said it so easily when I’m talking to clients, but don’t really take my own advice on the subject….. Until now.
My challenges are as follows:
-time (which is bullshit, as I’ve stated above)
-procrastination (because I’m focusing on the wrong things)
-consistency (because I’m very good at talking myself out of things, such as blogging, writing, setting a schedule, and so on)
The second part of the challenge is asking myself why these things I’ve listed above are challenges for me. They’re challenges because I know that they are keeping me from the life I really want to lead, a life full of serving my clients and bettering myself so that I can be 100% present for them and for those I love. I know this on a cerebral level, but sometimes it’s hard to see how these things are actual challenges until I have a day like today. A day that should have been easy, full, and happy. That day that I projected in the morning didn’t occur in the way I wanted to, and that’s another challenge I need to face: being lovingly flexible when my grand plans go to pot.
Due to the astrological phenomena of Mercury in retrograde, the 2 readings I had scheduled became none. I did my best to try to mitigate the damage and be as professional as I could about it, but still felt lacking. As we all are wiser in hindsight, I am trying my best to not berate myself too much about it, and try again tomorrow.
I can’t lie though: I feel very daunted and frustrated today. Perhaps a good night’s sleep and a new hair color and style tomorrow will wile away the “you messed up” blues that I’m feeling today.
Blessings,
Hilary
