How to Host Your Own “Be a Psychic” Party

beyourownpsychic

I walked up to the lobby counter of the country club and asked, “I’m here for the party… where is the room?” They smiled and gestured to the room on the right, where music and laughter was coming from. “Follow the fun sounds?” I asked as I smiled and went.

I walked into the party room in awe. I stopped dead at the open doorway. The dining room table was set, long-ways, with table settings out and almost all the guests already present, except for the birthday girl. It was gorgeous, inviting, and fun, with everyone having a good time already, yet still anticipating the person-of-honor’s arrival.

The hostess thought of everything for this themed party, including hiring me to give readings, of course. The pièce de résistance (besides me, naturally) was the gorgeous party favors: different sets of crystals placed in a compartmentalized tray, with paper cutouts signifying each crystal’s meaning, and transparent colored silk baggies for putting crystals in.

“I would have never thought of that, what a wonderful idea!” I gushed to the hostess. In the corner was a beautifully laid out table, ready for me to place my tarot cards on and begin my readings for that afternoon. I sat myself down, smiled to the guests, and gestured for the first person to come take a seat and get a reading.

I walked out of that private party absolutely glowing with every detail thought out, and memories of the wonderful people I read for.

But you don’t need a professional reader to host a party like that of your very own! (Though, ahem, I DO do party readings… and you can get on my schedule here).Continue Reading

The beauty of beginner’s mind + new FREE e-book!

“If your mind is empty, it is always ready for anything, it is open to everything. In the beginner’s mind there are many possibilities, but in the expert’s mind there are few.”
―Shunryu Suzuki

The word beginner is fraught with the stigma of naivete, and the synonyms for the word often have negative connotations:

Synonyms abecedarian, apprentice, babe, colt, cub, fledgling, freshman, greenhorn, neophyte, newbie, newcomer, novice, novitiate, punk, recruit, rook, rookie, tenderfoot, tyro, virgin

Really, who wants to be called a novice, newbie, greenhorn, or tenderfoot? Not me! We live in a society that doesn’t revere the beginner… in fact, we try and get to that “expert” status in whatever we do just as fast as we possibly can, forgetting that most of the profound lessons learned are in the journey toward mastery of a skill. Mastery is a vanishing point on the horizon that we all strive for, but never are meant to attain. This could be a depressing thought for some, especially for those that consider themselves perfectionists. But we all know that perfection isn’t possible.

Beginner is starting to sound pretty darn good, isn’t it? Because being a beginner ain’t a bad thing.

Location, location, location… Why where you read is important

My card of the day pulls last week had a very similar theme. They related directly to the weather phenomena we were experiencing in New York. If you’ve been living under a rock, you are one of the few people that haven’t heard of Superstorm Sandy that tore through many places (including the Eastern Coast) a few weeks ago.

This direct correlation of card interpretations to the weather surprised me, because usually when I pull my card of the day, it corresponds to more intellectual or personal situations and not what Mother Nature is doing. Normally I select my card of the day when I’m sitting in front of the computer…Continue Reading
