Attending Readers Studio for me is akin to a big kid in a candy store. Last year’s Readers Studio I bought at least 2 Lenormand decks without even knowing the system. What will this year’s Readers Studio divination trend be? (Did you even know there were trends in divination, just like anywhere else?)
I’m starting to suss out my shopping list, and I want my clients’ help. After all, the decks and techniques I acquire at Readers Studio directly contribute to what I’m bringing to y’all all year long when you book a reading with me. So, if there is any particular deck that you are interested in, let me know! If it strikes my fancy too, I’ll certainly add it to my list. After all, you don’t get if you don’t ask!
Some things I know for sure I will be picking up this year (depending on release date at Readers Studio or shortly thereafter):
- Sasha Graham’s newest book 365 Tarot Spreads: My bread and butter spread is the Celtic Cross, which I know like the back of my hand. Sure, there are a few others I use, but none with the same volume as the Celtic Cross. This year, I’d like to definitely delve into learning some new spreads, and I’m sure to love Sasha’s newest tome just as much as her debut, Tarot Diva.
- Mary K. Greer’s Who Are You in the Tarot?: Well, I DID have this book… and then I let a client borrow it, and never got it back. Which is just peachy with me, as she is one of my regular clients, and I’m sure is putting it to excellent use. So, I’m calling it a gift for being such a good client, and picking myself up a replacement copy. And maybe it all works out better in the end, since I’ll have Mary sign it, since she’s one of the Master Class presenters this year!
- Robert Place’s Alchemical Tarot: I’m shocked as all get-out that I don’t have this deck already. There have been several signs over my professional life as a reader that I need this deck (some as long ago at my attendance of SF BATS), so I’m choosing to not ignore them anymore!
- The Wildwood Tarot: Yes, another “why haven’t you bought me already?” deck. Another one of the decks that’s been bugging me I haven’t purchased, and again one that’s been following me around since SF BATS where I met one of the creators, Mark Ryan!
- The Dark Carnival Tarot: This is an amazing deck. The creator Rachel Paul attended RS last year for the first time, and I foolishly hung back instead of grabbing up her deck immediately. She also had amazing hand-painted “spreadboards” made to order. This year, she’s back, and I’m snagging myself at least a copy of her deck, if not more goodies from her table!
- The Dreaming Way Deck: At the end of Readers Studio last year, I watched the lovely Linette of SunTurn Tarot read for someone using this deck, and I’ve been thinking about it ever since. For some reason, it didn’t strike my fancy as much then as it does now looking back on it. Recently, I’ve seen Jenna Matlin from Queen of Wands Tarot use it in her card of the day videos. Thank goodness she did, or I wouldn’t have been able to track down the name of it!
- Carrie Paris’s lovely Magpie Oracle, or at least one of her “casting sheets”: I picked up her Lenormand charms last year, and unfortunately haven’t done a thing with them, being far more interested in learning the system with the cards first rather than playing with the lovely little trinkets Carrie enticed me with.
I will be doing my best to live-blog Readers Studio the entire weekend, so even if you’re not in attendance, at least you’ll feel like you’re there through my posts. Be sure to follow me on twitter and instagram for shorter tidbits of the goings on throughout the day Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. Card of the day posts will continue throughout the weekend on facebook, twitter, and Google Plus.
Blessings,
