Date of Publication: June 2018

Paperback: 256 pages

Publisher: Weiser Books (June 1, 2018)

This book crept on me, and it happened due to a twitter conversation. Immediately after downloading this book to my kindle, I read it within a week.

And you’re about to get enough astrological tidbits on me to prove dangerous. Use this knowledge about me wisely… and then go get yourself The Little Book of Saturn so you can know yourself just as much!

My Saturn is in Libra in the 8th House. Now, for astrologers, this quick amount of information can tell you a lot at a glance. [more about what that means, later]

For me, a layperson when it comes to astrology, I had to read this book to understand what that meant. And when I did… hoo boy. Lots of revelations. Lots of laughs. And lots of ways to get serious.

Because that’s exactly what Saturn is: the serious planet. The planet that forces us to adult, to grow up.

The Little Book of Saturn is broken up in the following sections:

  • Introduction: We Are the Stars
  • Section One: What Is Astrology?
    • Chapter One: You Are More Than Your Sun Sign
    • Chapter Two: Planets in Signs and Houses
  • Section Two: Wise and Patient Saturn
    • Chapter Three: Who Is Saturn?
    • Chapter Four: Saturn in the Signs
    • Chapter Five: Saturn in the Houses
    • Chapter Six: The Saturn Return

Section One provides a basic and brief overview of astrology, but the real meat and potatoes of the book occurs in Chapters Four and Five: Saturn in the Signs and Saturn in the Houses, respectively. This is where I spent most of my time pouring over not only my information, but my friends’ Saturn placements and my husband’s!

Let’s circle back to my own placements for a few examples on how this book blew my mind. First placement: Saturn in Libra. In Chapter Four: Saturn in the Signs, I flipped to Saturn in Libra to see what it would say about me. In this chapter, each Saturn in [Sign] contains the sections of “Your Gift,” “Your Challenge,” and “Your Ambition.” It also has a label next to each Saturn in [Sign] heading.

For Saturn in Libra, it is The Lover. Me, a lover? Huh? But as I read more, I began to understand the push and pull of what having Saturn in Libra means. You may find as you read this book feeling similarly, no matter what sign your Saturn is in. An example from my Saturn in Libra is “Life continually comes to a full Saturn stop when Saturn in Libra tries to do everything herself. Saturn in Libra, you need other people. And they need you. Once you realize this, life clicks into place.” Drat. Aliza Einhorn, you and your book have got me pegged!

But it was when I got to the Saturn in the Eighth House section I got pretty creeped out (yet absolutely delighted):

Other excerpts I highlighted from this section: “You may become a talented psychic or medium or ghost hunter.” Come the eff on! Now I understand why, years ago at my first tarot conference, people with an astrology background were looking over my chart and nodding their heads. Gee thanks guys…. could you have clued me in?

I urge you to read this book with your natal (birth) chart next to you, and learn more about yourself (and once you’ve done that, look at your friends’, family members’, and significant others’ charts for where their Saturn resides). If you don’t already have a natal chart, go to astro.com or cafeastrology.com to get yours done. Make sure you have the following information for the most complete natal chart:

-birthdate

-birth time

-location of birth

The back cover of this book says “Meet Saturn, Your Wise and Patient Teacher.” Well, Aliza Einhorn, you did Saturn proud with this book!

Much love and blessings,
