This title gleefully and gratefully stolen from the lovely and wonderful Alexandra Franzen. It was written about newsletters (ooh apropos) but really can be applied to anything, can’t it?
I’m working through some of the materials for Magic May and I’m coming to realize that lately a lot of clients have come to me with the fear that they’ve wasted their time.
Whether it’s divorcing or separating from a long term relationship, or waking up to the twentieth year in the same job that’s been sucking their soul… they feel that if only they started on what they really wanted to do or who they really wanted to be with ten years ago, it would have been better. Ideal, really.
There’s a lot of guilt that comes along with that realization, too. [frowny face]
While I can’t get into the specifics of someone’s reading (because confidentiality is sexy, y’all), what I can say is that the common message for those clients from the tarot and my own intuition is that their time wasn’t wasted.
That the lessons were useful.
That they couldn’t have been learned any other way.
That the divine timing is often way more appropriate than we could ever plan for ourselves.
Once the wake-up call happens, whether it’s in the space of a reading or not, what is the next best step besides feeling guilty for the time lost and working through those feelings?
Well, if you read the subject line… you know the answer: the best way to start, is just to start.
No big declarations (unless you want to).
No dramatic departures ala Bridget Jones walking out of her job at Pemberley Press Publishing.
A baby step in the new direction is entirely enough. And then another. And another.
Before you know it, your life will look completely different, and removed are those years of regret… maybe you’ll have some new ones, but they sure won’t be the same!
Stop reading and tell me (in the space of your own mind, or by sending me an email): where is your new start?
Not sure? Let’s use the tarot to help.
