Would you believe this was one of the email responses I got when I refused (gently) to work with someone, oh so long ago when I first started doing tarot readings? Ouch!
I can laugh about it now (I mean, obviously no stranger truly knows what goes on in my soul – I DO have one though), but when I was a newer tarot reader, I wasn’t laughing.
How dare she say that about me! I thought angrily. But I also contemplated if there was a grain of truth to the words that stung me so badly. Serious soul-searching ensued (once again, how can I search my soul if I don’t have one, hmmm?).
And the nugget of truth I gleaned was this: Was she right because I didn’t want to serve her? Could I really say that I was a good tarot reader if there were some people that I didn’t click with, that I couldn’t read for?
I let that one fester for a while, and I think that I didn’t see any clients for a month during that particular contemplation.
Eventually, I arrived at the explanation and I was able to resume seeing clients: I simply can’t work with everyone. And while it seems simplistic of a revelation, it was a game-changer for me. No, I wasn’t going to work with this client, and it didn’t make me a bad person or a bad reader. It simply wasn’t meant to be.
