Oscars Predictions 2016: Tarot picks the winners!

popcorn-1085072_640

Tonight’s the night, folks! A number of years ago (2012), I did Oscar predictions, but that time I did it without tarot. This time, I’ve pulled cards for each nominee, and selected a winner based on the cards that came up.

Predicted winner in red, followed by the reason I selected them. Following my selections for some of the biggest Oscar categories, I discuss and pull cards on the #OscarsSoWhite controversy…

[EDIT 2/29/16: I have added the actual results in boldwith a WINNER! after it. For the complete list of nominees and winners, please go to the official Oscars website here.]

Performance by an actor in a leading role

Bryan Cranston in Trumbo
Warrior Prince: Gift of Spirit

Matt Damon in The Martian
Judgment reversed

Leonardo DiCaprio in The Revenant  – WINNER!
Dancer 9: Make a Wish

Michael Fassbender in Steve Jobs
Dreamer Prince: Gift of Liberty

Eddie Redmayne in The Danish Girl
Maker 4: The Greedy Tree

The Tarot of the Sidhe selects Best Actor tonight.

Leo’s winning. Here’s why: Dancer 9 correlates with the 9 of Cups in the standard RWS deck, the card of wishes coming true and goals becoming manifest (a little Star card). It seems to have been Leo’s most ardent wish to become an Oscar winner, and the Academy seems to want to grant that long-held wish tonight. I think it’s because the Oscars voters have been swept up in the thought of Leo-mania… And giving him an Oscar seems to outweigh the other stellar performances in this category, such as Eddie Redmayne’s solid and steady performance (something is known for) (4 of Pentacles) for The Danish Girl or Bryan Cranston’s passionate performance in Trumbo. Matt Damon in The Martian getting the Judgment card reversed isn’t surprising in the least: it’s a token nomination, but ultimately one that won’t outweigh Leo-mania. And finally, Michael Fassbender’s turn as Steve Jobs was more cerebral than full of heart.Continue Reading

Tarot for Vermont!

An unscheduled blog post, for a very important cause!

There is a few more days left for you to help my friend Courtney Weber to help Vermont by buying a reading from her. Please see the details below!

TAROT TO HEAL THE WORLD! Hello, friends! I am contacting you to ask for a few minutes of your time to assist in my latest endeavor. :) As you may know, several areas of Vermont were decimated by Hurricane Irene and many people I know and care about were directly impacted. There is a local grassroots effort going on to get the region back on its feet (the government is doing little at this point) which has asked for contributions. For the month of September, I am donating every dollar I make reading Tarot to this cause!!!

Everyone on this list has a blog, podcast or both! I am hoping you all might be willing to mention the cause on your blog, feeds, or allow me to call into your podcast for a five minute spot. People can purchase readings on the Tarot of the Boroughs website via email, phone or Skype–every single penny goes to the Bethel Relief Fund. The link to the fund is here: https://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=272337666111248 The web address iswww.tarotoftheboroughs.com

Thank you all for your consideration!!! Just a couple of words will reach a lot of people and a lot of people need help right now.

Many blessings!

Courtney

The Tarot Apprentice, Readers Studio, and the Waiting Begins…

Courtney Weber blogged about me today in connection with Readers Studio. This is my first time at Readers Studio, and I have butterflies in my stomach. It’s going to be an amazing event and I am going to be learning much more about tarot than I ever thought possible. This will make me an even better tarot reader, and I can’t wait to share the new skills I will be gaining with clients.

In preparation for Readers Studio, I am packing the following to use as my workhorse decks for the conference:

  • Tarot of the Boroughs (available at Readers Studio for purchase and here)
  • Legacy of the Divine Tarot
  • The Llewellyn Tarot

Why three decks? Because I am fickle, and I want to be prepared for that fickleness. I know I’m going to feel that I want to read with a certain deck and if I don’t have it on hand, I will drive myself nuts.

In Tarot Apprentice contest news, the final challenge was posted on Monday. Now the waiting for the announcement of the winner begins. I feel a mix of relief, excitement, and nervousness. What if I’m not picked? What if I AM?! Either way, being a contestant on the Tarot Apprentice really pushed me to some of my limits (Read: vulnerabilities) both as a reader and as a potential businesswoman. It also made me aware of some things I say I don’t do just because they are scary and difficult. Discomfort from something being new is one thing; that’s something I can work through. There’s a difference between setting boundaries because you realize that something doesn’t work for you versus setting boundaries because you’ve never tried it. This is something I need to continue in my life, both as a reader and personally.

I will try to post a new blog after this weekend describing the indescribable: Readers Studio!
