Will You Give Me a Reading? A conversation with Jenna Matlin

I keep on forgetting to blog. Because why would I, when I technically vlog every week during my livestream?

It’s hard to keep everything I’m doing up to date. First, there’s my book which comes out 11/22/22 (talk about divine timing!). Then there’s my podcasts, plural: Cardslingers Coast to Coast and the Tarot by Hilary podcast.

To add to my plate, I’m also participating in National Novel Writing Month, which usually finds me sequestered, isolated, and weird. You’d be too if you wrote 50,000 words in a month.

But I digress. We had a really fun and information episode of the livestream last week, and I wanted to let you know about it.

Next week I’ll be on Jenna’s socials talking about MY book, so you’ll definitely want to check that out.

Blessings,
~*~Hilary~*~

The Simple Tarot: 7 Questions with Angie Green

This interview is a part of the “7 Questions” series. I will be posing 7 questions to people within the tarot community; whether they are bloggers, authors, deck creators, or fellow readers (or sometimes, all of the above!).

Today’s edition of 7 Questions finds me talking with Angie Green, creator of The Simple Tarot. I was delighted to receive the Simple Tarot Beginner Deck, with keywords on it. If you are looking for a cleaner deck sans keywords, the Classic Version of this deck is for you.

Below are some pictures I took when I first unboxed the deck.

Holy moly, what a treasure trove of resources you get with this deck: a companion guidebook, a cheat sheet, and keywords DIRECTLY on the face of each card, whether it’s Major or Minor. Seriously, the Simple Tarot, where were you when I was first learning tarot???

As I lovingly perused this deck, I thought that a deck review was simply not enough: I needed answers! Here’s the questions that came to mind as I worked through The Simple Tarot, and answers from its creator Angie Green:

Question: There are so many tarot readers out there that want to make their own tarot deck, but find it daunting. What inspired you to create The Simple Tarot, rather than make yet another RWS clone?Continue Reading

7 Questions with Theresa Reed + Win It! The Tarot Coloring Book

This interview is a part of the “7 Questions” series. I will be posing 7 questions to people within the tarot community; whether they are bloggers, authors, deck creators, or fellow readers (or sometimes, all of the above!).

There is so much I could say about Theresa Reed. I owe this woman a TREMENDOUS debt of gratitude when I won her Tarot Apprentice contest in 2011. Tarot by Hilary had existed since October 2005: the day I gave my first ever “for pay” tarot reading. But really? It didn’t truly begin until I had Theresa in my corner, inspiring me and pushing me to take risks, go bigger, and genuinely and authentically step into my business.

Today I’m “paying it forward” by offering up THREE free copies of her new book, The Tarot Coloring Book (more about that after the interview). Here’s a little more about Theresa, and 7 questions with this tarot dynamo about her work and her new book!

Theresa Reed (aka “The Tarot Lady”) has been a full-time Tarot card reader for close to 30 years. She is the author of The Tarot Coloring Book (release date: Nov 1, 2016), an illustrated tour through the world of Tarot with coloring sheets for every card in the deck.

In addition to doing private Tarot readings, teaching Tarot classes, and speaking at Tarot conferences, Theresa also runs a popular website—TheTarotLady.com—where she dishes out advice, inspiration and tips for Tarot lovers of all experience levels.

Follow Theresa on Twitter and Instagram for her daily “Six Second Tarot Reading”—plus photos of her extremely handsome cats, TaoZen and Monkey.

What inspired you to write The Tarot Coloring Book? Why a coloring book and not a straightforward nonfiction tarot book?
