I’m Hilary Parry Haggerty, and I’m a tarot reader. I believe in interactivity, tough love, and a no-nonsense approach. I do tell it like it is. I am simply the girl next door... that reads tarot.

You wouldn’t make a major decision in your life without consulting a few of your trusted friends for advice, would you? Probably not. Sometimes you need someone with more objectivity. I offer that objectivity, and then some, with my tarot readings.

I am based out of Westchester County, New York. In-person readings have been suspended in light of the global pandemic, but previous to that in-person readings were located in the Westchester area and the tri-state area of New York. For in-person readings, I do not have a home office (yes, I make housecalls!) and readings are by appointment only. If you are not in the area, readings are also available through phone, Skype, and e-mail. I serve clients in Australia and Riyadh as well as in the United States and Canada. Isn't technology wonderful?

Deck Review: The Crystal Unicorn Tarot

Deck: Crystal Unicorn Tarot

Created by: Pamela Chen, illustrated by Lisa Higuchi

Date of Publication: February 2017 (now available for pre-order)

Published by: Self-Published; Luna Prosperity

Please note that this deck was purchased wholesale in exchange for a review.

This cutesy deck is a deck I never expected I would not only lust after but consider a powerful deck, combining the magic of crystals and the nature of tarot. Unicorns replace the human figures of this tarot deck, but most of the standard symbology of the Rider-Waite-Smith deck remains in place for the Crystal Unicorn Tarot. An additional helpful feature is the inclusion of corresponding crystals in every Major Arcana card and a specific type of crystal for each of the 4 suits of the Minor Arcana.Continue Reading

Book Review: Kitchen Table Tarot

Book: Kitchen Table Tarot

Author: Melissa Cynova

Date of Publication: May 2017

Published by: Llewellyn Publications

Structure of the Book: 8 Chapters, with Introduction, Conclusion, Recommended Reading, and Acknowledgments Sections

I will try to keep my review of this book as unbiased as possible, but that may NOT be possible. Why? Because I absolutely adore Melissa and consider her a very close friend. From meeting at Theresa Reed’s Soulful Proprietor Retreat 4 years ago to adventures in NYC meeting our personal hero Terry Iacuzzo this past April, I felt an instant kinship.

When her book Kitchen Table Tarot came out, I knew I wanted it BADLY. Once I got it into my hands, I knew all the hype I made out in my head was worth it: the book is plainspoken and absolutely the person I know within the pages. No nonsense, whipsmart, and down to earth.Continue Reading

Happy New Year: But how are you going to make it a happy one?

Is it happy new year? It’s hard for me to say that after everything that’s been going on in my life in the past two weeks. I spoke about this a little bit in my monthly newsletter (don’t get it? you should sign up!) about feeling the weird limbo in taking bereavement leave after the sudden and unexpected passing of my father plus that already weird limbo thing that happens in the space between Christmas and New Years. It’s double limbo, and it’s thrown me for a loop.

Thank you for allowing me the space to grieve, heal, and feel the complicated feelings that go along with loss.

It is the first of the year, so thank you for allowing me the space I needed to come back to myself and my readings stronger than before. All reading options are now available. Thank you for your support and your patience.

Now that we’ve gotten logistical stuff sorted out, onto the real “meat” of the blog and reason for me writing this today.

Happy (?) New Year!

I don’t have a problem with the “new year” part of the above: it’s a fact…. another calendar year is over, and we face the promise of a new calendar year looming ahead, with all the joys and sorrows that come along with it, just glimmering in the future past the point where we can’t see but we know it’s there.

It’s the “happy” part that’s got me stumbling. Because every time you say that phrase to someone, it’s a wish for them to actually HAVE what you are saying to them: you are wishing/willing them to have a happy new year. It is a hope, a fervent prayer, that they will indeed have the happiest of New Years.

But how are WE going to make it so, with the ardent urgency that everyone else wishes it for us? I have a few ideas.Continue Reading
