I’m Hilary Parry Haggerty, and I’m a tarot reader. I believe in interactivity, tough love, and a no-nonsense approach. I do tell it like it is. I am simply the girl next door... that reads tarot.

You wouldn’t make a major decision in your life without consulting a few of your trusted friends for advice, would you? Probably not. Sometimes you need someone with more objectivity. I offer that objectivity, and then some, with my tarot readings.

I am based out of Westchester County, New York. In-person readings have been suspended in light of the global pandemic, but previous to that in-person readings were located in the Westchester area and the tri-state area of New York. For in-person readings, I do not have a home office (yes, I make housecalls!) and readings are by appointment only. If you are not in the area, readings are also available through phone, Skype, and e-mail. I serve clients in Australia and Riyadh as well as in the United States and Canada. Isn't technology wonderful?

Day 8: Mini-Adventures, and Rainbow Hair Really Trying NOT to Care

Day 8 Challenge: Like I said, today is a fun day. So I want you to go out and do something that you’ve wanted to do for a long time. Go out play, enjoy, and come back and write about what you did. Also, write about how you can make such adventures part of your new lifestyle.

The assignment today was a mini-adventure, but it ended up being simply a relaxing day with a bonus little luau at the local watering hole. I wore a rainbow lei of fake flowers with glittery sparkles in my now rainbow hair, and got a few looks and compliments about it, and some complaints from a few parents (why’d you do that, now my teenage daughter wants to!). The perks of being an adult, I guess? Though I did get a few comments of “Oh, I’m too old to do that to my hair.” What am I? 5? Do you really have to be below a certain age to dye your hair colors that you enjoy?

I feel like the bigger mini-adventure really happened last week, when I spent 5 hours at the salon getting the now fabulous rainbow hair that everyone has been noticing and talking about all week. And I learned a few things from that mini-adventure.

What I Learned from Radically Changing My Hair

There will always be people that don’t like or agree with what you do. These people will believe that their displeasure will actually matter enough to you to feel they need to voice their displeasure to you about it. My recommendation: smile and nod, and still feel however YOU want to feel about it. Don’t allow them space within your mind or heart if you personally love your choice.

You may become very visible.

You may become very invisible.

^ the invisible part of it surprised me, but I realized that it may simply be people not wanting to deal with you because of your choice.

It’s only hair.

OMG, it’s my HAIR.

^ Sometimes this can be a 50/50 love/hate war going on in your head, even after you’ve done it.

Bottom line? I love my new hair, and I love mini-adventures, and I love doing things that sometimes scare me or put me outside of my comfort zone.

I hope you had a fantastic Saturday!

Blessings,
~*~Hilary~*~
